Whew!!  After a marathon six week stretch of ten hours days, I finally put The Jungle to bed.  I haven't heard back from Clive yet but the three people who've read it say its among the best books I've ever written.  And who am I to disagree?

Now onto the important news.  Last year when I agreed to write the Oragon Files #8, I was certain my regular publisher would finally drop me.  Didn't happen.  They were willing to wait for the next Mercer novel.  It is my great pleasure to announce that it is my next project and quite frankly I can't wait.  I've been thinking about this book for what seems like,, and actually is, years.  And I normally never divulge teh title, I'm going to tell all of you its called - Sample 681.  No publication date yet, but rest assured Mercer is baaaack!!

Cheers,

Jack

Wow Jack, that is awesome news. Can't wait for the book to be released. Intriguing title, a sample can be anything so we will see what adventures Mercer will get into

Wim, With a title like "Sample 681" I wondered what it could be. I then thought Mercer is A geologest so it might be a core Sample # 681 and it must be very important or dangerous!!!!!! It will be interesting

Great to see Jack back on the forum! I'm looking forward to The Jungle, and I'm excited to hear about Sample 681. For all us "addicts", looks like we're going to get our Mercer fix.

Great I can't wait for the new Mercer book! I've been dying for another one as all mine are starting to get kinda dog eared and had to go to electronic format on the Nook.

Jack,

It is great to see you back writing about Mercer again. I am sure that you will at some point write for Clive or others again and I will purchase those books as well. But like many of your followers, I am waiting to revisit Mercer and his adventures with his wonderful world of friends and companions. Thanks for letting us know. When you know a publish date, please inform us.

Jack - if you need anyone to help out reading copy, I am sure there are many of us who would be glad to volunteer...if you want to send out ARC's etc...

Thanks for the info and looking forward to it!

So when will we get another update about your progress with sample 861? Now that you're back on the forum, I think you will get many such questions. Thanks Jack, and I look forward to the Jungle. TTS

Hi Jack. Just wondering if there is any update on Sample 681? I have The Jungle pre-ordered and really enjoy the Oregon Files books, but I really miss Mercer.

Mr. Du Brul,

While you are at it, can you go ahead and put several Mercer stories in a row together?  I think I have re-read each of your previous stories 4 or 5 times.

Love your work!

Ray

Great to hear you're doing your own writing again! Out of curiosity, is this then end for you and Juan Cabrillio? Will he make any guest appearances in a Philip Mercer novel maybe? I think that the two characters would work well together, even if it is only for a chapter or two, and motifs within writing has always been interesting to me. Although you're the famous author, not me! Probably like that for a reason.
